Ali has been writing stories since she was a little girl.
When Ali cleared out her parents’ attic she unearthed notebooks containing stories she’d written starting at seven years old. It’s been a circuitous route back to her childhood dream of becoming an author, but three kids and a mortgage later, Ali’s finally figured out what she wants to be when she grows up.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College, Ali’s first job was in the children’s division of a publishing house. Her primary role was answering fan mail for a well-known aardvark. It would be many years until Ali returned to the world of books, leaving publishing to ride the dot com wave for a brief stint before returning to school to earn a Masters in Education. Ali then taught at a small independent school in the West Village of Manhattan where she always made sure to carve out time for her students to free write. In her summers off, Ali began writing again herself, still feeling the same itch she’d had ever since she was a little girl.
When Ali left the classroom to raise her own children, she thought she’d have plenty of time to focus on writing. She was wrong. Fast forward nearly 18 years and Ali finally found time to put pen to paper, enrolling in a writing course and rediscovering her passion. Now that Ali’s writing again, she just can’t stop. She’s completed two novels and is currently working on a third.
When she’s not writing, Ali can be found chatting on the phone with her oldest daughter, hearing about life these days at her alma mater; cooking up elaborate feasts with her younger daughter; driving her son to his next golf tournament; or hiking with her husband, discussing their most recent TV series binge.
